Choice Not Chance

Do you believe in luck? While success may appear to be luck, any successful person will tell you, if you wait around for luck, you’ll be waiting a long time.

Today is opening day at Coors Field.  It might be lucky to catch a fly ball today, but how many players made it onto the roster of the Colorado Rockies by luck?  Sure, a lucky break might be part of the story, but true success wasn’t created by chance, it was by choice.  Only after making the choice to master the habits of a professional athlete can one find themselves in the position to get onto a professional sports team.

The same principle applies to success in real estate. The right choices lead to the right opportunities which create the success we desire. It may appear to be luck to a bystander (or even family and friends), but it’s really the result of study, hard work, patience and persistence. The investor who masters the craft will appear to be the luckiest.

What choices can you make today that will position you for a lucky break?  Think about it, even the person who catches a fly ball today had to first buy a ticket.

7 of Colorado’s front range counties have been listed in the top 12 most “unaffordable” counties in the whole country due to such a quick rise in home prices compared to wages in the last few years.  Even so, that doesn’t seem to be deterring buyers, at least not very many of them. Home sales in February and March show yet another increase in home values since last year.  Also, over half of the homes listed in March were under contract within 8 days. This market may be tricky, but there is still no reason to think this is a bubble.  Investors, what are you doing to take advantage of this rising market?
Here’s a good tip: When selling a home, go for “nice home with a good vibe.” This is a great article about how to get the best photos for your listing. After all, it is your home’s first impression to your buyers. More than ever, good photos should be your primary marketing strategy.
