Focal Points
A focal point is a dominant element that draws your attention.  It is the first thing you notice when you walk into a room, or where your eye is drawn to in a piece of art.  It is a place to begin and it sets the tone for everything else.
With every new project, it’s important to think about the things that catch the eye, good or bad. What is the first thing your buyer is going to see when they walk into your house for sale?  Make sure their eye is drawn to something positive right away.
While we’re on the subject, what about the focal points in your mind? If you are doing something “big,” like flipping a house or starting a business, you need to constantly remind yourself why its worth all the effort.  Keeping your “why” in front of you constantly – whether it be a picture, a song or a positive affirmation that you read – will keep your mind focused on something positive and set the tone for all the decisions you will need to make going forward.

With interest rates rising, the big question is: how will this affect our housing market?  Home ownership is already trending near all-time lows and home prices are rising faster than wages.  To top it all off, higher interest rates could push some first-time home buyers out of the market.  It looks pretty bleak, so what’s the good news?
WELL, the threat of even higher interest rates seems to be nudging people to buy houses ASAP.  Maine is already seeing a boost in activity this Winter, attributed to rising interest rates.  I’m guessing Colorado won’t be far behind. There is always a little bit of a boost in January, but this year might be extra special.  Expect the buyers to come out after the Holidays.  All the more reason to get a house on the market quick!
