One of the keys to living and thinking success is simply good planning. Keeping a calendar is a good place to start. I don’t know a single successful person (in any field) that doesn’t have a good day-timer system. If you don’t need a calendar, you aren’t doing enough to get ahead. This is step one.
Step two is to get a Plan-of-Action. A POA will create a map toward your goal. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. When you break a goal down bit by bit, it becomes achievable. This is why you need a calendar first, so you can plan for small victories along the way.
Here’s a great way to get a POA – use this SMART guideline:
S – Specific. Define your objective
M – Measurable. Assign some numerical value to your goal. Dollars, numbers, hours, etc.
A – Action. What’s it going to take? Time, resources, connections – and how you can attain those?
R – Reason. Define your purpose for wanting to achieve the goal. Keep the true meaning behind your effort always on the forefront of your mind. Let it fuel you.
T – Time. Break down your action steps into mini-steps and put them into your calendar.
SMART entrepreneurs take the time to plan their own success. After all, no one else is going to do it for you!
